Yeehaw from the Nova Scotia Stampede! 😂 #partn Yeehaw from the Nova Scotia Stampede! 😂 #partner I was in Truro this weekend at our provinces first ever stampede to help promote local Nova Scotian businesses and producers with @novascotia.loyal and the @kiltedchefalain ! Chef was there for three days of demos and tastings of delicious Nova Scotian beef from @millenfarmsltd butchered at the @masstownmarket. It was a great way to see how different parts of beef that you might have never heard of like the Denver can be really great and delicious! At the Stampede there was also a tent full of vendors, and outside lots of food trucks, many of each who were local Nova Scotian businesses. The Nova Scotia Loyal team was there handing out free $5 off vouchers good at these vendors to be used by everyone in attendance as part of the NSL voucher program. For the past week I have been on a Canada & New En For the past week I have been on a Canada & New England cruise with @hollandamericaline exploring the east coast! I boarded the Zuiderdam ship in Quebec city and spent 8 days and 7 nights onboard. We started with an over night stay in Quebec City before taking off up the St. Lawrence River and into the Gulf of St. Lawrence for a day at sea while headed for Charlottetown, PEI. It took over a day to get there because the boat has to travel slower due to Right Whales and other marine life in the area. Our third day was spent in PEI where I took a shore excursion tour around parts of the island and then enjoyed a lobster roll and Cow’s Ice Cream of course. The next day we arrived in Sydney, NS where I took an excursion visiting the Highland Village and Baddeck! On the fourth day I arrived home in Halifax. Because of other ships at the pier we had to anchor behind George’s Island and tender ashore. I visited @pier21_quai21 to see their new exhibit then went for lunch with my parents! 😂 We left early from Halifax and headed to our first American port of Portland, Maine. In Portland I took an excursion that explored the city, visited a pretty lighthouse and took me to Kennebunkport (where I visited last year) and I once again had the best lobster roll ever! Then our final day ended the next morning with an early departure from the boat in Boston. It was a rainy day but I explored the aquarium and then headed for the airport. It was a busy cruise but I loved exploring home in a different way! Let me know if you are interested in learning more about my cruise! You won’t BELIEVE what you can buy at this airpo You won’t BELIEVE what you can buy at this airport!! Fresh Atlantic Lobster from Nova Scotia. Still ALIVE!! Located outside of security at the @hfxstanfield airport is a @clearwaterseafoods kiosk selling live lobster. You can buy as many as you want at various sizes, they will pack them in a box that is carry-on size so you can take them right on the plane with you! It is a great gift to take home or to wherever you are flying off to next! Be sure to cook them within 24-48hrs though before they unalive! If you don’t like the idea of live lobsters then no problem. They also sell cooked full lobsters, or just tails, just claws or even just lobster meat where all the hard work is already done for you! They also sell other things like @comeauseafoods bacon wrapped scallops, salmon, haddock and more! Opened in the past year are @holymackerelstore @theschoolhousens and @spindriftgalleryns. Created as part of the Six by the Sea, six properties together in Peggy’s Cove that have recently gotten a refresh and new life. Next season two more of the buildings will open as Margaret’s Cafe and Hunky Dory French Fries & Ice Cream. Visit now before October 11th when the season ends to check out the Schoolhouse where there are three 30min Cèilidh performances each day at 12pm, 1pm & 2pm. Tickets are only $10! Then visit the free gallery as part of the Peggy’s Cove Centre for Arts and Culture to see a collection of photographs from the @ns_archives of Peggy’s Cove from the 19020’s-50’s. This past weekend I took a quick trip to Cheticamp This past weekend I took a quick trip to Cheticamp, Cape Breton! I was there for another @novascotia.loyal pop-up with the @kiltedchefalain. You’ll never know where he might show up next! Chef was dishing up local Halibut tacos to all who visited. Served on a corn tortilla with a chive remoulade, cheddar cheese, a cabbage slaw with this seasons Sunshine apples, carrots, The Kilted Chef’s Let It Bee Citrus Honey Vinaigrette and Daily Catch Seafood Seasoning finished off with a drizzle of Cornect Family Farm honey and green onions. Huge thanks to everyone who came out and enjoyed the food and helped us to support local!
