Last night I was invited to try out @matadorahfx w

Last night I was invited to try out @matadorahfx who is owned by the Bertossi group that also own Water Polo, Bicycle Theif, Amano, La Frasca, Pane e Circo and Il Mercato. I have always been a huge fan of them (the chicken focaccia sandwich at Il Mercato has my heart.😂) so I was excited to try it out!! I have also travelled all over Spain several times so I couldn’t wait to see how it would compare.

I brought Matt from @two.bards.brewing with me and we had the Pan Con Tomate (tomato and olive on toast basically) but it was way more delicious than that description makes it sound! Soooo good. The Patatas Bravas (potatoes with a spicy sauce) my fave!! Next we got the Croquetas de Gambas (bechamel and potato fried with prawns) I liked this but probably would have loved the one with Jamon better. Then we had a serving of Jamon Iberco (fancy ham from a pig that only eats acorns) I can eat this all day long. We also shared a main which was the NS Lobster Paella! (A rice dish with lobster, shrimp and mussels.) We were in heaven!

Than came dessert, hot just fried churros with a chocolate sauce and their signature dessert Pastel Vasco (almond cake with black cherry and pistachio crema.) Drool. We also enjoyed Sangria and Spanish beers.

It was all sooooooo good. Thank you so much to Matadora for having me. I can’t wait to go again!!

This is an upscale restaurant in a new building directly on the waterfront so the price reflects that in the menu but it was pretty typical for prices these days. Our meal was around $80 pp before tip.

This weekend is the last weekend to check out the Evergreen festival. Be sure to get down there and check out all of the local vendors and be sure to support local!

Looking for a warm and cozy spot with ocean views

Looking for a warm and cozy spot with ocean views and close to plentiful amounts of fresh lobster in Nova Scotia this winter?!?! [AD]

Then you need to check out @thereddoorbarn on Little Harbour in Sable River, NS located just 15min from Lockeport, NS.

This lovely new little barn cottage has two bedrooms with Queen beds sleeping 4, THREE full bathrooms, a washer and dryer, a full kitchen with everything you need including a dishwasher, a deck with gorgeous ocean views, a screened in porch with a propane fire table, an outdoor fire pit, huge lobster pot and propane burner, a wood fireplace, comfy large couch and more!

I spent two nights here this past weekend and absolutely loved my stay. Truly a hidden gem in NS and it is also pet friendly! (Not hot tub.)

Enjoy the ocean views as you watch the lobster fisherman come and go from the nearby wharf then fire up the pot for your own delicious seafood feast before enjoy the night by the fire!

Did you know that from the Halifax, NS airport you

Did you know that from the Halifax, NS airport you can board a 1 hour and 15 minute flight to France?!?! [AD]

Of course don’t forget to book and pay for your ticket online in advance to snag a seat on one of these thrice a week year round flights to the French owned islands of St. Pierre et Miquelon!

Once there you can explore by foot, bike or rental car and enjoy delicious French culinary delights like galettes, eat all of the French pastries at the many bakeries, enjoy a few hikes, take in the gorgeous views of the islands and so much more!

You can also visit by taking a ferry from the nearby town of Fortune, Newfoundland. Canadians only need a drivers license to visit and all others require a passport to explore.
