Popular Nova Scotia-based international travel blogger
launches NovaScotiaExplorer.com today!

(Halifax, NS) – Aimed to be the ultimate resource for both Nova Scotians and visitors from away, Nova Scotia-born extensive traveller and travel writer Cailin O’Neil has launched niche travel site, NovaScotiaExplorer.com today!

NovaScotiaExplorer.com will highlight the very best that Nova Scotia has to offer. From accommodation reviews, restaurant and locally sourced food and drink recommendations, guides to the best road trips and hiking adventures, ideas for the perfect Nova Scotian staycation, suggestions on things to do outside of the normal tourist route, and much more.

O’Neil has spent the past 11 years travelling to more than 50 countries on five continents for her world travel site: TravelYourself.ca. She has also travelled extensively around eastern Canada visiting every province as well as Sable Island, St. Pierre et Miquelon, Îles de la Madeleine and even Anticosti Island in Quebec.

O’Neil’s idea for NovaScotiaExplorer.com came about in the summer of 2019. She began working on the site in January 2020. And now, since travel is extremely limited, she is pivoting her focus from travelling the world to more about travelling locally while still maintaining both websites.

“I’ve travelled the world but am always excited to be home and enjoy the best lobster, the friendly people, and breathe in the fresh Atlantic Ocean air,” says O’Neil. “With NovaScotiaExplorer.com, I’ll be able to share what I love most about my home province with the world. I can’t wait to help visitors and locals learn about and be inspired to explore the province for themselves.”

Deemed one of the province’s top travel bloggers, O’Neil has worked with numerous hotels, tourism boards, tour companies and brands around the world to promote them and create travel content across her blog, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and now TikTok.

With NovaScotiaExplorer.com now live, O’Neil is looking to work with and feature Nova Scotian accommodations, restaurants, tour operators, local drink producers and all of the great things to see and do in the province. She is also open to working with contributors to create the best content possible for anyone wanting to visit Nova Scotia. Interested businesses and contributors can email O’Neil at: [email protected].

“For more than 10 years now, I have enjoyed working with brands and tourism boards around the world to promote them to my loyal followers. I am excited to now get the chance to work with even more to help promote my home and favourite place in the world,” adds O’Neil.

O’Neil was born and raised in Halifax and now lives on the South Shore. She is also the great granddaughter of a Nova Scotian lighthouse keeper on Pomquet Island from 1890-1924. She learned black and white photography and picture and film developing at the early age of 12. Around the age of 14, she began taking video making courses with Neptune Theatre and at the NSCC and then later filmmaking classes through AFCOOP. She majored in film at NSCAD and then worked professionally in the Halifax film industry as a production assistant, location assistant, and production coordinator. While working in the film industry she would travel between jobs and film her travels. In August of 2009, her and a friend who was a professional camera man travelled to Spain and shot the first episode of her travel show. The show was turned into a YouTube series at youtube.com/travelyourself which then evolved into her blog TravelYourself.ca and supporting social media channels which have now inspired NovaScotiaExplorer.com.
