The holidays are here!!

This past weekend was a beautiful weekend in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia for the #LightUpLunenburg festival!

There were tons of events on Friday and Saturday to celebrate the start of the holidays. From a craft fair to Santa Claus parade, a lighting of the vessels event, live music, kids crafts, cookie decorating, free face painting, meets and greets with Santa and the Grinch, the lighting of the trees and more!! The perfect holiday and family friendly event!

One of my favourite things that I saw at the @noct

One of my favourite things that I saw at the @nocturnehalifax fest a couple weeks ago was @colinjmuise’s fashion show of his Halifax landmark inspired costumes.

He featured 8 of his creations. The Halifax Ferry, the smoke stacks from Tuft’s Cove, the Purdy’s Wharf buildings, the iconic Wave sculpture on the waterfront, the fountain from the Halifax Commons, the Dingle Tower, the Peggy’s Cove lighthouse and the town clock from Citadel Hill.

Which one is your favourite?!?!

I hope he does a harbour bridge or George’s Island next!

Greetings from the Apple Capital of Nova Scotia!!

Greetings from the Apple Capital of Nova Scotia!! AKA Berwick, Nova Scotia. A cute little town in the Annapolis Valley known for of course apples and some tasty food!

Berwick processes and manufactures lots of the provinces apples and apple products. It is also where many of them are stored and exported and NS actually has one of the biggest apple cold storage systems in all of Canada!

Visit the Apple Capital museum, stroll through an apple orchard, buy apple pies for $3 from the pie factory outlet, or dine on a tasty Apple Capital burger at @jonnyscookhouse !

Then be sure to take some apples home to make some delicious apple crisp, apple sauce, apple pie, apple cider, Apple strudel, apple turnovers, Apple galette, candy apples and so much more!! 🍎🍏

Last night in Halifax was the @nocturnehalifax art

Last night in Halifax was the @nocturnehalifax art fest. There were over 40 art filled locations around downtown Halifax and Dartmouth (including on the ferry) for people to check out and explore.

There were dancers from @halifaxdance, a fashion show of wearable Halifax landmarks from @colinjmuise, a interesting video about the harbour hopper, blow up art, DJs, live performances, ferry-oke, interactive art work, paintings on display, a mural walk and so much more.

It was a perfect evening for it and it was nice to see so many people out and about enjoying art. If you’ve never been mark it in your calendars for next October!

One of the most unique experiences you can have in

One of the most unique experiences you can have in Nova Scotia is sailing onboard the Bluenose II!

The original Bluenose built in Lunenburg, NS was once the fastest fishing schooner in the world winning many races. Years later she sunk off of the coast of Haiti while full of bananas acting as a coastal freighter carrying cargo between Caribbean islands in 1946.

In 1937 an image of the Bluenose was added to the Canadian dime.

In 1963 the Bluenose II an exact replica was built originally as a promotional tool for Oland’s Brewing. In 1971 the boat was gifted to Nova Scotia and has been the provinces sailing ambassador ever since.

From June to September she now sails around the province and maritimes educating people, offering deck tours and sailing tours as well.

Last week I took my parents on one of the last sailing tours for the 2023 season! It was a gorgeous calm day for a sail. Sadly no wind so we stayed under motor but we did get to see 4 of the ships 8 sails rise and be taken back down. It’s a really cool experience to see how the crew works in sync with each other.

Last week @coldstreamclear invited me to check out their new fall menu! Did you know that their @dartmouthcrossing location is more than just a storefront, but they also have a bar and restaurant. They have a great menu of flatbreads and appetizers and a drinks menu full of delicious cocktails. Grab a pint, a cocktail or even a cocktail flight with a bite to eat while taking a break from shopping.

For different seasons, holidays and events and they feature unique drinks and their fall flights and cocktails are delicious. Some examples include:
