Who loves oysters?!?!

Prince Edward Island has some of the BEST oysters around! These Malpeque oysters are super delicious, briny and fresh. I enjoyed them this summer seaside in Summerside at @theknotpei. The coolest little beach bar right in the middle of the city. You can enjoy tasty eats like oysters and nachos and great cocktails. Or if you feel so inclined you can rent a paddle board or bike!

If you are visiting Summerside on a gorgeous sunny day this is the place to be.

Would you stay in a treehouse?!?!

I was invited to stay in this lovely little treehouse in Meteghan, Nova Scotia a couple weeks ago. Located in a pretty secluded area on a lake with a private wharf. It was a lovely little getaway while I was there for the craziness of the @lecma2024

I loved the windows and views. There were so many cool places to relax as well, I wish I had more than one night to enjoy it.

I didn’t love that the shower and sink were outside in one spot and the toilet way over in another spot. But at least they all had running water and it wasn’t an outhouse! It’s still glamping but I’m just used to being a tiny bit more Bougie 😂

On property they also have another treehouse with AC, and inside plumbing/toilet/shower. It might be more my vibe. But I still loved this one. A perfect little getaway in nature!

Last evening I joined the @kiltedchefalain at @newcombesweetcorn for one of many @novascotia.loyal pop-ups in Nov Scotia! We dined on many delicious corn dishes with some great giveaway winners for this unique experience! Follow them for your chance to attend the next event!!

At Newcombe’s Sweet Corn they have a farm stand where you can pick up some of the BEST corn I have ever had! Located just outside of Kentville they are cash only and close for the season August 31! Get there while you still can! They also sell fresh local blueberries and garlic!

When you visit they also let you try their two types of corn twice, fresh and raw right off the cob. So amazingly good!

For the event last night Chef used dozens and dozens of their fresh corn to make our meal. We enjoyed everything from cornbread, to chilled corn soup with jalapeño jelly, corn salsa salad with corn chips, corn succotash, corn on the cob, a summer berry trifle with corn and more!

It was such a unique and fun experience! Who knew you could eat corn so many ways?!?! 😂🌽❤️

Happy National Acadian Day!!

August 15th is National Acadian Day and this year in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia they held one of the biggest Acadian celebrations ever! That is because this August Yarmouth was also home to @lecma2024 the biggest Acadian gathering / festival in the world that takes place every 5 years.

The Acadians are descendants of the French who settled in the New France colony of Acadia (eastern North America) in the 17th & 18th centuries. During the 7 years war in 1755 to 1764 many were expelled from the area by the British in not the nicest of ways. National Acadian day celebrates them and in particular they celebrate with a tintamare where they parade through the streets making as much noise as possible letting people know they are still here and still exist.

Nova Scotia is home to many Acadian communities and Acadians and I was excited to get to join in on the celebrations this year and attend the CMA. One of the main events was the Exchange which was a three day event filled with vendors, market stalls, Acadian tourism boards, live music, food, cooking demos and more.

There were several artisans in attendance as well that couldn’t typically afford to buy a booth at such an event but thanks to @novascotia.loyal their fees were covered so they were able to attend and sell their unique creations like Acadian themed bracelets, soaps, art and more and still make a great profit! Another great way to support local!

Next week Aug 8-10 is the @seaportbeerfest on the Halifax waterfront by Pier 20! There are several time slots for tastings available and you can get regular or VIP tickets. It’s an all you can drink (within reason) kind of event and is a great way to try new things that you might not normally get to have.

I’ll be there Thursday night. See you then!

19+ drink responsibly and have a designated driver.
